Hey Diary,

Today is my birthday, Happy Birthday to me! My mom made me a card. I got the new Mr. Bill toy and lots of treats today. Dad took me for a walk earlier today for 2 hours. Mom gave me boiled chicken with my kibbles for brunch. She's never given me human food before. I love it! Saw a lot of dogs and people on my walk today. I got lots of compliments. I did my business and Dad was holding the bag for 10 minutes or so before he found a garbage. :) As usual, I got away from dad again since mommy loosen my harness. It's a good thing it's near our house because I know my way home. My dad called for me but I gnored him. He started to walk off and I just followed him home. Dad yells to my mom, "come get your dog, he won't come inside!" Mom sticks her head out and I come inside. Hahaha...dad is frustrated again. I don't mean to make him mad but I can't help it, I have my own will and I will come to you when I want to. Translation: I'm stubborn. LOL

The fun really began yesterday when I went to for a walk at Cesar Chavez Park. I encountered my first squirrel. I didn't see him at first cos' he was playing dead and I stumbled over him. I had him by the neck for a brief second and got away. I caught up with him and he was in this defensive position lying on his back, paws up and hissing. If I weren't on a leash, I'm sure I would have more fun with him. Dad was restraining me and all I can do is bark. We let him go. Mom filmed parts of it. Then I visited with my aunt and 2 baby cousins. The 3 year old girl is scared of me but the 16 month old boy petted me. We only stayed for half an hour. Then, we went to my dad's friend's place. They have 2 big dogs, Sparky, a rescue dog and Bebe who is from Brazil. Bebe is 9 and only understands Portuguese but she seems to understand me. We played and played and played and got all muddy. I like playing with the big dogs. Then mom and dad ran a few errands. I went to Petco with them and they got me Mr. Bill. I think they were looking for a toy cake. No such luck. Needless to say, I was soooooooooooo tired when we got home. I did not have my normal nap. It was a great birthday weekend.

My First Puppy Class

My mom took me to puppy class. Dad stayed in the car. He didn't want to participate. It was great meeting my classmates. I got so excited that I peed 3 times during playtime. Mom had to clean it up. :-) There were 7 of us and mostly pure breeds. The first one I greeted was Deacon, a Basset Hound. He is 2 wks older than me. He is very submissive. He started to lay down as soon as I approached him. Other pups came in and we didn't have to have our leash on. We played for a few minutes so we could get to know each other. They keep bribing me with treats that the trainer has but I didn't care for it. Then, another mommy grab me when the teacher said, "Grab a dog, not your own, sit down, and hug him. Put him between your knees facing forward." I saw my mom holding on to a Bernese pup named Suki who looks nervous. She was trying to get away from my mom. I was squiggling too but I wasn't whining. I finally settle down being petted by a stranger. There was a german weimaraner who kept barking, it was really annoying. The humans kept talking about biting inhibition is very important. Then it was playtime again. Strangers trying to entice me with treats so I would sit, lay down, and stand. I saw mom trying it with Deacon. He is an easy target. I wasn't paying attention, all I wanna do is play. Trainer said to my mom, "He is overexcited. Next time, bring your own treats that he really likes. And everyone, do not feed your dog before you come to class." Overall, I enjoyed the class. My mom thought all the pups are so cute. I'm dog enough to say that one of them is cuter than me. ;-)

Whew!

Dear Diary,

Ok, so last night, I bolted out of the door before my dad can put a leash on me. I ran and I ran. My dad was yelling at me to stop. I went to Shasta's (a black lab) backyard to stop and stare but ran away again. I went all over the usual places I like to sniff at. I can hear daddy yelling. Then, I came back home. Dad was mad. He opened the door and I went in. Mom said, "wow, that was a quick walk". That's when dad explained to my mom how I bolted and that I don't listen to him. Mom told him to calm down. She said, "next time, put the leash on before opening the door." From then on, dad just ignored me and mom took off my collar to put back my name tag. After awhile, dad petted me and played with me before he went to bed. I'm too cute for my dad to get mad at me for that long. ;-)

Ay Caramba!

What fun I had on Valentines Day at the park. I played and played and chased my new playmate Maxie, a 9-month old longhair chihuahua. My parents and her human chatted away while I ran around with Maxie. I would pounce on her but she got me a few times with her sharp teeth. I gave her my ninja back move and my parents laughed so hard when I missed my target. Her human threw a green tennis ball and I would steal it as soon as Maxie drops the ball. The following day there was a Malamute named Max at the Big dog's area and my mom let me go there since the owner assured my mom that this big dog was calm and tender. I tried to pounce on him but he won't have it. He won't play. I went back to the small dog area cos' there was a terrier. His name is Pepe and he was barking so much. We got into each other's face. He is a little bigger than me and he bit me a few times. I couldn't even give him my ninja back move. He kept pouncing on me so I had to hide behind my mom. :-) His human scolded him a few times cos' he was playing too rough. ;-P This is the first time I used my fangs on anyone. lol

Cleaning House

Lots of activity going on today. Mom petted me once, fed me, and she preceded to do some chores. I hate being ignored. My dad was complaining to my mom that I'm not a real dog because I just stood there when 2 dogs passed me by. I didn't bark nor growl at them. I saw a cat and didn't chase it. I just like to walk, sniff, do my business and move on. I prefer to run free but they won't let me. I got away from dad once today and ran away for a few seconds. That was fun. It started to rain again and headed back home. It was a short walk. I get inside the house and I smell something different---lavender. I notice the carpet is clean and all the newspaper pieces are gone. My bed has been moved and my toys are all in a box. Hmmm, dad takes me for a walk so mommy can vacuum. Then she starts rubbing lemon to all the chewable furniture i.e. chairs, drawers, coffee table. She's trying to tell me something.

Rain

It's raining today. I love the rain. My mom let me outside while I did my business. I had to wait for daddy to come home to get my walk since mommy doesn't like to walk in the rain.

Dear Diary

Feb 2, 2010
I decided to write my thoughts down when I have them. I will probably post mostly pictures of myself because I'm that vain and writing is such a chore. I was adopted almost 2 wks ago. My mom and dad are super cool. It only took a few days to get them under my paws. I was barricaded for 3 days and now the gate is out. ;-) My mom is a little tougher to crack than my dad but I just give her this look where I tilt my head and she melts and make goo goo sound. They left me a few times and I cried and screamed so loud. Too bad my parents didn't hear me, just the neighbors. I do not like to be left alone and I hate my crate. Hey, I made a rhyme.

I went to the vet and they stuck this thing on my butt. I dare not move. It was very uncomfortable but the vet says, "Good Boy". I was crated again while my mom drove haphazardly. There were too many bumps. I kept yelping but she didn't budge nor even looked behind her seat to check on me. Geeesh. As a reward, she took me for a walk by the bay and gave me a few treats. During my walk, I met a 10-year old terrier and we just sniffed each other until he started to growl. His human corrected him. My poor brain was too excited to comprehend all the new things I've seen---the mud, the water, the seagulls, passerby, barking dogs, etc. A lady driving a van with kids suddenly stopped and parked the van. She was coming towards me and was so excited. She asked my mom if she could pet me and she did. She was ranting about how she always wanted a Shiba. She warned my mom about someone dognapping me because I'm the "it" dog of the moment due to the popularity of the SFShiba puppycam. Anyway, I couldn't walk since my mom is stuck there talking to this lady. Thank goodness the kids did not come out of the van. I turned around and I saw this miniature pincher mixed and I attacked her. She smelled funny, not like the terrier. Her owner said that she's in heat. Have no idea what that means but my mom yanked me so fast away from her.

Before I forget, this past Saturday I went to this lady's house with 3 other big dogs while my mom and dad went to a Dog Show. My mommy was obsessed about seeing Ayumi, a show dog. Apparently, this Ayumi is one of the reasons my mom adopted me. Hmmm, I guess I should thank this Ayumi. Anyway, I did not want to be at the sitter's house. I ran after my parents and escaped briefly but my dad caught me. I wasn't really scared of the dogs except for the 9-month old pointer. He was too rambunctious and was stepping on me accidentally due to his excitement at seeing a small but regal puppy. Plus, he looks clumsy. :) I was separated for awhile in another room but the nice sitter was there to guard the hyper pointer so I got to rough house with them. The 2 other dogs were much older so they were kinda sedate. I ran around her big backyard and it was so much fun. My parents picked me up and my mom was talking about giving me a bath cos' my paws were muddy. I was sooooooooo tired. I just want to sleep. I didn't even mind the crate. My mom just used baby wipes to clean me up. I ate a little and just went to sleep. Because my parents have been so good to me, I have been peeing on my pee pad but I always do Number 2 outside. This action alone makes my mommy so happy that she gives me treats. :) Of course I've had a few accidents but that's normal. I don't have fully control of my bowel movements yet. What did you expect? I'm just a puppy.

On Sunday, my parents took me to a dog park. I never knew such heaven existed. I was roaming free, no annoying leash. My dad kept throwing a ball which I thought was bizarre. He wanted for me to fetch and return it to him but I was too busy checking out an 8-month old lab called Zoey and 2 shitzus with a little boy. The little boy was more interesting to me since he was putting water on a bucket. My mom kept filming me in action. I ran and ran and ran. I was having a good time. I could outrun anybody and I run fast. I played mostly with Zoey. I really had a great time but I wanted to leave and explore the other side of the park. Unfortunately, I had to be on leash again. After our long walk, time for the crate which I despised. Mommy carried the crate from car into the house. I felt woozy. Then I hear her lamenting how she lost her camera. Too bad mom, you never got to see all the action I just did at the dog park. When she finally sat down, I just gave her my special puppy kisses to make her feel better. By golly it worked! Yup, I can be a charmer.
